Kimberley Sunset Cruises was established in 2005 while sailing across the Indian Ocean from Durban, South Africa, to Fremantle, Australia in our 15m sailing catamaran, Kimberley Cat.
Looking back on our 30 days sail across, we all agree that is was not a easy thing to do, knowing days went by without any trace of land in sight.
Once we arrived safely, we started marketing our newly established cruise business in the Kimberley with full force, deciding to create a luxury sailing experience accessible and affordable. We saw the opportunity to offer shorter, boutique like cruises which young and old can partake in, enjoy and afford.
Soon we added a second boat called Adventure Cat, a 22m cruising catamaran.
As the trip from Broome to Horizontal Falls took so long (24 hours by boat), we planned right from the start to fly our passengers in with a float plane to Horizontal Falls and cruise from there and follow the itinerary as indicated. This makes it possible to cater for shorter cruises without missing the beautiful sceneries and adventures in and around the Kimberley Coast.
We however decide we need to buy our own planes to allow exclusive transfers to and from the boats and to obtain the certainty that all our passengers are fully comfortable and happy.
